Decorative mouldings have more than one advantage… First, they come in different sizes and designs to fit everywhere (even in small spaces), with discretion or panache, depending on your desires! Then, they are easy to install and do not cost much either. Generally made of plaster or wood, they are very practical and aesthetic to decorate your home!
PLINTHS AND CORNICES: WE DRESS OUR WALLS FROM BOTTOM TO TOP
Want to round off the corners? Add mouldings as plinths or cornices! This is a clever way to soften the four corners of your room by hiding the abruptness of the intersection between two walls! You can choose moldings whose style matches the room’s decoration: simple and uncluttered, or more elaborate and refined, modern and designer or even more ancient and baroque. Wonderful!

Remember to choose a moulding that blends harmoniously with the decor of your room. All of a sudden, it’s a wow effect!
HOW TO ATTACH DECORATIVE MOULDINGS?
With a little material and a little DIY! In order to fix mouldings, we start by equipping ourselves and then we let ourselves be guided, step by step! You will need: * 1 decorative moulding * 1 spirit level * 1 soapy sponge * 1 pencil * Glue putty * Paint (if needed) * Saw (if needed) Our instructions: No. 1: Cleaning Before any operation, we make sure the surface on which we plan to apply a moulding is clean. To do so, we wipe the wall with a soapy sponge to remove all traces of grease, we rinse, and we wait until the surface is dry! N° 2 : Marking We start by marking the decorative moulding on the wall. Thanks to the spirit level, we check that it is straight in relation to the floor, and we draw marks with a pencil to delimit its location. If it is a plinth or a cornice that is not pre-cut, this is also the time to mark with a pencil the place of the cut to saw it! No. 3: Gluing On the parts of the moulding intended to be in contact with the surface, we apply beads of glue. Then align the moulding on the previously drawn line, and press it strongly against the wall to allow the glue to adhere. If you notice any excess glue, you can remove it with a coating knife. No. 4: Finishing It’s now time to paint the moldings the color of your choice! You can choose a different color from the surface they are glued to to make them stand out, or paint them the same color for a more subtle look.
